Thread: Quad engines?

  1. #11
Oh I am working a deal to get an early 80`s argo 8x8 with no engine, but the guy bougth all new bearings, seals etc.. tires too i think. He tore it down to rebuild it and has changed jobs and has no time to finish or use the argo, so in a couple of weeks I will go and pick it up for $500. I`ll have to put it together and put a motor in it.

*x* argo for $500.00. That is a SWEET deal.
It's all just nuts and bolts.

I know that some of the utv's use a cvt clutch like we do on amphibs. Two that come to mind are the Kawasaki Mule and the Yahaha Rhino. Not sure what the cost of one of these engines would be.If they are more expensive than the "lawnmower" engines we use now,the added cost and work to mount them would render the point moot. But If a guy had one laying around,it might be fun to play with just to see if it would work.If I had one and it could be done without MAJOR alteration to the mounts I know I would try.But it would probably be best to try the Mule - Rhino type powerplant for simplicity. So there's my nickel's worth.

On the quads they have a cvt that drives a chain to the axle, what about having a chain drive the aatv trans instead of a belt.
