Evening! Just purchased my first 6x6. It's a max iv with only 2 trips on it. Ok, here is the catch! It has no motor. So i know some of yall (you all) can lead me in the right direction on what to buy. The tranny / drive train is all in tact jist the motor / clutch? is missing. Type / size of clutch, type/size of motor and outpit shaft. Good place to buy parts. Any and all info would be great. Thanks in advance, Sean

What you decide to use for power is really up to you as to what you want to do with it and how much you'd like to spend. The Max IV is a good sized machine, so personally I wouldn't use anything under 18 horses, and the bigger the better. I won't even suggest a two-stroke because of the grief I'd get from everyone, and to be fair, unless you want to go really fast and tinker with the engine a lot it's best to go with a four-stroke. Kohler, Briggs and Kawasaki all make good, reliable engines, and any would work well. The most common shafts are one inch and one-and-an-eighth inch straight with a one-quarter inch keyway. The one-inch shaft is easier and cheaper to get a clutch for.
The Comet 94C Duster clutch is a good choice in a drive clutch, and they're easily tuned to your application and have a good customer support system.

Don couldnt have put it any better. If you get a Briggs off of ebay make sure you have a GREEN governor spring (which can be purchased from Recreatives Industries Amphibious Six-Wheel Drive All-Terrain Vehicles: MaxATVs - Call 1-800-255-2511). This will ensure proper RPMs for the clutch to engage. Also you will need a throttle cable, choke cable, and a wiring harness also available from Recreatives. An update. Went this afternoon and purchase a b&s 22hp out of a cub with a 1" shaft about 4" long also purchased a zero turn mower with 35hrs on it that fell off a truck and is not repairable with a Kohler command 25hp. worked out great because I needed tires for my mower and I think I can use wiring, muffler flange ect..! Paid 300.00 for the lot and both are running. Was that a good price??? lol Now I need clutch. And a sat. afternoon to make it run. If you have input in to the motors let me know. Thanks, Sean
I would be wondering what engine came in it. That would indentify the original engine/clutch/belt and part #s to use. All that stuff has to line up and be a certain distance apart. Not that you can't use the 22..
