    Briggs 18hp remote oil filter

Has anyone seen a remote mounted oil filter for the Briggs and Stratton 18HP or 20HP motor? I thought I had seen one before but I searched the web tonight to no avail. Perhaps I was thinking of an oil cooler instead.

I'm messing with the engine placement in Jennifer's Max IV and could get it right where I wanted it if the oil filter wasn't in the way. Just exploring some possibilities.

    Thanks,

    Mike

A guy could have a plate made to replace the filter adapter, with hoses/lines coming out the side, hugging the block. Hoses made to fit some common remote filter. Maybe a cooler in the loop too?

Might ask at heymow's vanguard forum.

Roger, I did a quick search at heymow and found that Briggs actually makes a part to do what I want. Now I just have to find it. Thanks!

What is the filter interfearing with? I'm working on Godzilla and I've got all kinds of room.

The filter is hitting the shift linkage (FNR) on the T20. My T20 is still in the stock location so this will be a mid engine car with the motor in front of the T20.

After a thread on HeyMow (thanks Roger) they were kind enough to point me to the correct Briggs part number. I thought I would update this thread with that information in case anyone in the future needs the same parts.

There are actually two parts needed for the V-Twin engines:

B&S #492687 - "Oil Filter Adapter Kit" - This is the plate that replaces your current oil filter adapter on your motor and has two fittings for your supply and return lines. That is all that this part number includes.

B&S #492061 or #492062 - "Remote Mounting Oil Filter Kits" - Both of these kits are identical except the one ending in 61 has 18" hoses while the one engine in 62 has 30" hoses. This kit includes the two hoses that you need (supply and return) as well as the plate for mounting the oil filter. That plate also has the necessary fittings to connect the hoses.

Yeah, I had a little trouble myself. It's probably not a bad idea to post where I found it for anyone else reading this thread.

If you look on page 39 of that PDF it details the parts.
