I didn't have anything to do today so i thought I'd pull my T20 apart to see how it works and what the guts looked like. I've read that the bands should be relined at .020 but wasnt sure how to measure so i took my caliper and measured the metal thickness at the space between where the linning seperates and then measured lining and metal the differance should be linning thickness. Correct?? is this how it is calculated?
That should work as far as I know. You add the thickness of the linning to the band and then subtract the steel band thickness and that gives you your linning thickness.
Correct , measure in several places around the band. usually the wear is near the plungers but can have a thin spot anywhere. New lining is .035-.042 thick.
