Making your own Bakerhill Pucks

I have read about making your own pucks with brake material. My question is how do you cut them. I don't see how a hole saw would work because of the bit in the center. Has anybody have any experience with this or suggestions.

Thanks
Larry

take the drill bit out of the center of the hole saw. use a drill press and a vise to hold the pads

Hey, thanks
I dont have a drill press and never thought of that. I did think of the taking bit off but I couldnt see that working with a hand drill, lol. I guess I will have to run to my dads shop to make these.
Thanks again treb

drilling without drill press

Larry, Drill a hole in piece of plywood with the center pilot bit. Remove the center bit and use the plywood ,clamped to the brake material, as a substituter for the pilot bit.

Good luck!
Kevin

Whats wrong with having a hole in the pad/puck? clutches have them, brakes usually have a wear indicator that is basically a groove, you get grooved disc's, vented disc's, why not see what happens if you leave the pilot in there, I bet not a lot of difference as the pressure some from a solid disc behind the puck.
