Replaced bands in t-20 now reverse is not working

I’m having trouble figuring out why my transmission is not spinning in reverse I took the transmission out and have it sitting on my bench right now due to the bands needing to be replaced went threw all the part and everything looks sound, forward and reverse worked before I took it out of my max 2 but now when I spin the clutch in reverse nothing moves there’s no transmission fluid in it yet Im wondering if this is the issue ?

Are you just bench testing the transmission, or is it sitting in the machine when you're trying this? Remember that you'll have to engage the bands by pushing or pulling on the plungers before you get any movement whatsoever. It can be hard to do on a bench since you certainly don't have all the leverage you do when it's sitting in the machine and you have a three-foot long lateral to use for leverage. Make sure the shifter has a gear selected, push or pull one of the plungers in or out (even using a screwdriver or pry bar wedged between the connecting rod and the case) and turn the clutch. Fluid won't have a huge effect on it if you're just bench testing it.

Yes I’m just bench testing it but that makes sense that the bands need to be engaged first thank you for the info I’ll drop it back in and see how she does

Your secondary clutch turns the same direction all the time. Fwd/Rev motion is done in the trans.

    I got that too.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
    Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.
