Either with new lining or in need of relining.
I have older bands with lining, but appears to be nearing the end of adjustments (plungers sticking out). Would rather prefer to have a 2nd set then just sending them of for relining.

I have several olde bands that I won't have relined. They are from early t20s and don't have both ends TIG welded as newer ones do. I will box them up and mail to anyone that wants them. I think there is 2 lefts and 6 rights.
Where does one get the bands relined? Whats the thickness when relined? Since Im redoing my T 20.. I dont know how to tell if the bands need relining.Originally Posted by msafi65

Typically new material measures .035-.040 thick. Measure backing and then both lining and metal band. I was told by the t20 guy at RI many years ago to use band with anything over .015" lining. For the price I relined them if questionable. I use transmission crafters in Albany GA. If you can't find info I can look it up tomorrow.
Looking at the bands. One side is red in color. Im thinking this is the lining. However, on the other side. It looks like something use to be stuck to it. It may just be grime or better yet. It looks like an adhesive gum or maybe the bands got hot and has a melted residue stuck to this surface. Is the red side the lining? The other side, should that all be clean metal?
The lining is on the inside of the circle formed by the band's, and from what I've seen red material is used. The band wraps around the drum and bites against the drum, thus the necessity for lining. The outer side doesn't run against anything. It could have some adhesive on it from the lining process.
