In 1972 Attex built 274 eight wheeled vehicles for the US military for training soldiers to drive a tank. There aren't very many left, and those that are still around are usually pretty beat- this one included.

Don, other than the obvious longer body, eight wheels, two extra seats, etc., was there anything else that was really different about these compared to their six wheeled counterparts? Were the transmissions and engines the same?

Mike, the machine is based on an ST400 chassis: just a JLO 400 twin and a T20 like the six-wheeled version. The only real differences are what you already listed, with a longer floor pan and control rods. The engine cover/back seat is even the same as the ST. There's a bucket seat for the operator and bench seat for the instructor(s), I would guess.

Why do we waste tax money on bridges and roads when we can all just drive AATVs

Way back before she was Big 5. I remember looking at this picture 3 years ago, thinking how cool it would be to have one.

She has come a long way, and Don is STILL riding in it.
