      Removed the shaft seals for a quick freshing up and "Huston we have a problem" The Bearings look nasty. Not rusted but crusty varnish. The only proper way to get this baby running is to rebuild the crank. Not what I had in mind. If the Springer goes to Ashtabula it wont be with this motor.

      Ouch. Any chance of finding another bottom end and using the pistons/jugs from the engine? I imagine the porting on the beast is pretty wild. Just a thought; I'd love to see the thing fly again.
