to solve this silly dilema i ordered new fasteners from argo.the new and improver system is all steel and i beleive they are called "Q turn". any how it took about 5 minutes to re and re them and they seem to work great.rivnuts would have been much cheaper but the firewall removal is still tool-less.thanks guys.

How about replacing the clips with RIVNUTs?
If you look on Youtube, there's plenty of idea's of how to install them without the special rivnut tool.

The new Aurora's no longer use clip, the fire wall is held on by five bolts, if you have a power impact wench it takes about a minute to take off. The clips you are referring to drove me crazy on my HDI. I would consider a bolt system similar to the Aurora.

You could use industrial glue to hold the nuts on the inside of the plastic firewall and simply bolt the firewall on and off as necessary.
