2006 Conquest with Avenger steering

I drove sticks for 20 years and loved it but when i changed to handlebars it was heaven on earth. Makes for a much more relaxed ride... one option i would consider is a braking feature when the bars are pulled back rather than the bicycle lever....I have found braking a problem at times...brake cables and just the whole factory setup seems to be minimal to me. i do carry a spare but if it breaks at the wrong time GOODBYE!

I learned that trick within 5 minutes of my Busco Beach arrival! But I agree, its only good for really smooth roads or trails because of the flat beer/wet legs thing that happens.
I traded machines with McCoy for a little while and his BigFoot has the handlebar steering. Its alot easier to drive than the dual sticks. I did not take it up and down any hills, so I don't know how it compares. If the kit was cheaper, I would seriously consider it. I like the homemade bicycle handlebar idea. That might be worth a try.
At the Ledges, someone had a steering wheel set up on their Argo. Same principal as the handlebar steering. I'm not sure how they handled the braking for hills.

I had that figured out soon after I bought it. You run the gas and the right stick with your left hand and the left stick with you elbow and that frees up your right hand to hold a beer or hot coco. You have to drink it fast though because it goes flat quick with the rough ride.

lol, I don't think I've tried it quite that way before, but I may have used the "Roger S" method a few times in the past


I swung by the local Argo Dealer a couple days ago, and he has 5 or 6 older, beat-up Conquests in his "boneyard". If I can get one cheap, maybe I will just convert one. 3 Argo's might be a little too much for the wife to swallow though, so I might have to sell the 6x6. If I had a bigger shop, maybe she wouldn't notice a new addition.

I'm with you on that, I think I'm more in tune with the machine, but my wife would like to try the handlebar setup. I always tell my her that I can't drive and hold a Beer at the same time, maybe she doesn't want to have that problem. Also, it might be easier for the kids to learn on

More people would associate it with riding a bicycle. The sticks seem to intimidate a lot of people. It is easier to drive i will agree for someone that had not driven a stick machine, but i really enjoyed more control with my Conquest. The sticks in a Avenger is one mod i look forward to. I hope that in the future they will at least make it a option.

As far at the beer, the Avenger comes with a beverage heater. Hot Chocolate holder perhaps

IMO the sticks are the better of the two. If the opportunity arises for a change over back to the sticks that is the mod i want. IMO i feel more in control on hills with the double sticks. This is my opinion.

I think $400 for the conversion is very reasonable considering there is alot of one off Argo machined pieces on the list and we can spend that easily on just a new set of tires and the conversion would change how the machine is operated. Actually after going over it with my dealer we figured you could actually redneck fab it all to work for about $50......... all ya need is BMX handlebars and gooseneck, a short piece of shaft, some steel and some fabrication skills lol

OK, so a factory equiped Conquest with handle bar steering is not unheard of. Is that right?
I would like to find one, so if anyone knows of one within a reasonable distance, I would like to hear about it. I guess I could convert one, but I would like to try to find a stock one first.

400 seems expensive but I would love to have the conversion. That would make it so much better in my eyes.

i have seen one up north on an '01 but the guy had the dealership convert it, i looked inot it and its only around $400CDN to do the conversion, actually the only reason i did not end up doing it was the dealer told me the handlebars were on backorder and would not see any for 4-6 weeks

By 2006, all Argos came with the Avenger handle bar steering. The Avenger had the handle bars first when it came out in '04, but I think it was the next year that all models had it.
