97 bigfoot need tracks for snow .....do i need get smaller tires for tracks ?

hey all iam asking for a friend, he has a 97 bigfoot 6x6 and wants tracks for it ,
from what i understand you need to get smaller tires for the tracks .?
is there an option that didnt need replacing the tires?
any info would be great thanks.
