I know this is old, but did you ever get this resolved? Mine was rolling free a week ago and it just got cold in the past few days. It's around 20 today and the right side is locked tight. Cannot get it to budge even with a bar on the wheel studs. Thanks!

Trace the left chain to be sure a doubled link has not wedged against frame or tensioner. Almost sounds as if chains were too loose to start with. l

Well let’s see. First get al the wheels off the ground, make sure your adjusters on the primaries are backed off all the way. If you still can’t get it make sure the trans is set down all the way in the u slots. They tend to creep up sometimes.

Tbone9 if that is not the problem what else could it be? The other side that jumped the sprocket the trany is moving free, but I cannot get the master link on, to tight.

Yes it is the older style 1990s and definitely will pull the rear seat before I pull the engine thank you for getting back to me

I should also mention before you pull it make sure that’s even the problem. You should be able to see the trans bolts by pulling the rear seat out.

Ok. If you’ve got the older style then. There’s two 3/8” bolts (9/16 head) on each side. Then there’s the flat bar brackets on top. It’s common for the trans to move out of the slots from lose or broken bolts. They’re a bear to get at with engine in. It’s almost easier to pull the engine out leaving the stand attached.

how many bolts hold the transmission. are those slotted holes for adjusting. what is the easy way to get to them

Sounds like it could be any of a couple things. First of all check your transmission mounting bolts to see if they’re broke or possibly loose allowing the trans to move. Then check to see if the double sprockets moved on the axel. You can tell this by seeing if the primary chains rubbed on the adjusting bracket where it straddles the chain.

The one on the right side, atthe double sprocket main drive chain. The left side main drive chain is really tight with the adjuster loosened up and that will not turn. the other side in neutral shaft on skid steer turns freely
