t-20 trans. no reverse

Okay I never thought of taking them out . I know that they are a pain in the keester to get them back in the u channel after doing a band adjustment. I liked to never got them back in

So by removing them doesn't change how the plunger recesses into the tranny?

No, the springs simply hold the laterals/levers forward. If you remove the springs, the laterals just move without much resistance. Many people prefer to have the springs off and others like having them on. Try it both ways and see which way you like better.

So the two springs connected by threaded I bolts that go from the frame to the t-20 u channels ? Are those the springs you are talking about?

That's the ones.

You can loosen the bolts that hold the springs to make it easier to pull back, or you can just throw them in the scrap pile like I do.

New to these but had a blast with restore and now riding!
Found out last night I wasn't pulling back far enough.
It runs and drives great!

To clarify what Drew said: When in reverse, The sticks act backwards. When they are fully forward they apply brake, you pull them back to move the machine.
With the stock springs still on the laterals, it is easy to make the mistake of not pulling them back far/hard enough.

Do you know that you pull back for reverse while in reverse?

Just finished a restore on a max ll it goes great forward but no reverse.
I was told it ran great before the motor blew up.
The trans locks into reverse on both sides but just wont move.
