    Pulling the motor makes it much easier and it really doesn't take too long to do. I think that's probably the best way to tackle the replacement of that bearing.

    Do I need to pull my motor? My driver side rear outer bearing is too far gone for me to justify keeping it on. Looking at it, it looks like the motor will severely constrain the ability to get the eccentric off the inner bearing. How have yall tackled this?

    Machine is great other than that. Texas got some rain last week, and the back yard was under 3 feet of water. You can probably guess where I was that day.

    Looks like I got a dud bearing. It's got plenty of play within the outer housing of the bearing. I'll be taking it back soon.
    Had it out the other day; worked great ...for all of 5 minutes. It sputtered to a stop, and when I pulled the carb apart, I found a mound of red dirt in the bottom of the carburetor bowl. The gas tank was cleaned and the fuel lines are brand new, leaving the fuel pump as the culprit.

    Did they mistakenly send you a 206 62mm bearing instead of a 207 72mm bearing?, never mind me, you'd have seen that.

    The axle that's angled up is the one whose bearings and flanges I just replaced. Ill be taking it all apart this weekend to see if I might have messed something up when I put it together. There's play between the outer bearing and the new flanges though, which is probably why its pointed up. the bolts are tight, and the bearings and flanges are brand new, haven't even taken them out for a drive yet.

    also check the inner bearing on that axle. if you lost a bolt on it , it may have '' flipped '' allittle. j.b.

    Finally got the bearings in, thanks for the different links guys, much appreciated. I put it together this weekend. Started up nice and easy with the pull rope (starter clicks but doesn't turn over, Ill be rebuilding it soon). Didn't take it for a drive though; the new outer bearing doesn't seem like it's seated correctly between the two flanges, and has the axle pointed up. Any idea on what to do about it? The flanges are new, and so is the bearing.

    No problems other than that though, this coming weekend I'm going to put a bilge pump in, and different drain plugs; I don't much trust the pop in plugs that the machine came with.

    That's ridiculous! Call Buffalo Bearing and tell them you're with 6X6World and they'll take good care of you. (716) 874-1720. They'll probably charge you in the $40 range for all those parts. Whoever quoted you $137 is trying to scam you big time!

    Went and ordered new bearings. I was quoted $137 for 1 inner, 1 outer, and 1 new flange. Is that a fair price for them? Maybe I'm just cheap, but that seems a little high for two bearings and a flange.

    Had a chance to pull it all apart Friday. Took a grinder with a cutting disc and tore into the inner locking collar to free it. After that was off, I could get the sprocket tube off the axle and slide the axle out. Next I broke the hub off the axle which was crooked. Some one else had messed with it (welded it on funny), so I'll see if it's centered, and if not, I guess ill have a new hub CNC'd on a plasma table. The outer bearing's race was frozen on the shaft, and no amount of pb breaker and hammering broke it lose. Ended up cutting a line through it with the grinder till there was 1\32" of metal left of the race in the slot. A chisel and a hammer opened it the rest of the way up and allowed me to slide it off. Thanks for the suggestions on those mike, worked wonders!
    This Friday, I'll be heading over to a local bearing shop to pick up the two bearings, and afterwards, I'm going to a buddy's shop to do what I need to do to get the hub back on the axle right. If all goes well, then the machine will be ready to go pretty soon.

    The sprocket is keeping the axle from sliding out of the tub; the locking collar that's frozen on the shaft doesn't let the sprocket slide off. I tried using the axle as a slide hammer, but the sprocket was getting beat on in doing so, and I don't really want to mess it up. Next weekend, I'll see if I cant get my hands on a bearing puller that'll weasel its way in-between the end of the shaft and the engine. If I can't though, I may just get a grinder and cut 80% of the way into the collar, and take a chisel to break it off. I'll post progress and put a few pictures up when I figure out how.
