I had a friend call me to tell me his friend was selling a 6x6 w/trailer. He told me the owner was losing storage and needed money. It ran fine but would need a throttle cable, muffler, and was like a early 90's model. The owner wanted $2,250 with trailer.Being that I like to hunt and live with a river and swamp in my "back yard" I had been looking for a ATV but thought something "dry" would be better than the average 4 wheeler. Don't like being wet then sitting for hours in my tree stand. When my friend came by with it on the trailer it looked virtually like new. It is a camo model, has rollbar, heated throttle cable, new battery in cardboard box, brand new extra tire (though wrong size), and was sitting on a single axle, expanded metal, factory made landscape trailer. We unloaded it, started it, and with a cord on the throttle mechanism, took it for a ride. It ran almost perfect, drove well with all controls working. I told him to leave it as I thought I would like to look it over better. I opened the top tub to look in and found all sprockets, chains, bearings, oils, brake pads, etc., like new and thought this couldn't be. No tears in the seat, no cracks, nothing. I never, ever get deals like this. I'm always having to do extensive work on any "deal" I get. Well, the throttle cable was broken at the lead lug that goes into the thumb lever and was a easy fix with a set-screwed fitting from one of my RC planes. The muffler would have to be ordered and I thought I would also order a new throttle cable. Now, here's the really good news!!!!! I called R.I. and gave them my serial number and get this, was told it was a 2003!
I was told I stole it and they offered me a $500 profit and would come and pick it up from Buffalo, NY, a 8 hour trip one way. $250.00 later, I have virtually a new Max II and a really big grin. My wife is also happy because she was thinking of buying me a quad this year but knew it wouldn't quite get the job done. I hunt accross the river and this year it was about 5-6' deep and I still haven't retrieved my tree stands yet. I have floated it and it does take a little confidence to get used to floating it. Only one problem, one tire has been replaced and it is the wrong size. Of course my machine has a odd ball tire that is no longer available. See, I can never get anything perfect.
I am looking for one Nankang 21x12-8 chevron treaded tire someone might have. I can't see replacing 5 tires for one. Maybe someone has a old, decent tire around.
