  • Site Update: Downtime, Repairs, Media Recovery & New Protections

    Hey everyone,

I wanted to give a quick update on what’s been going on behind the scenes with 6x6World and explain the recent downtime.

The site did go down for a bit, but the good news is that nothing was lost. The forum, posts, photos, and member information were all still there. The issue was related to the hosting side of the site, and once that was sorted out, everything came back online.

While working through that, I decided it was a good time to go through some of the older parts of the site and clean things up rather than just get it running and leave it alone.

A lot of time has gone into recovering and cleaning up old photos and videos, fixing older links, and making sure as much of the historical content as possible stays available. There are a lot of years of knowledge, photos, projects, and discussions on this forum, and preserving that is a big priority.

I’ve also been working on reducing the amount of junk traffic and automated bots hitting the site. There was a lot more of that going on than I realized, and some of it was putting unnecessary strain on the forum. That has been cleaned up quite a bit, and more protection is being added so the site should be more stable going forward.

There are still a few things being worked on in the background, including some additional security and performance improvements, but the goal is to keep all of this as invisible as possible to everyone using the forum.

6x6World has been around a long time, and there is a huge amount of information here that would be difficult, if not impossible, to replace. I want to make sure the site stays online, stays usable, and keeps that history available for years to come.

Thanks to everyone who has stuck around, checked in, posted, and let me know when something didn’t look right.

If you run across an old post with a missing photo, broken video, strange link, or anything else that doesn’t seem to be working correctly, please let me know. There’s a good chance it may be something that can still be recovered or fixed.

    Thanks everyone!

Again, many thanks. I think a lot of 'members' got totally frustrated with garbage and such, and just gave up. A few of us would love to see the site recover and thrive, and what you have done recently is all for the better and in the right direction. You are correct. To lose all the historical information/knowledge would have be tragic, to say the least. Hopefully, the few dedicated diehards can get the word out. Looking forward to a long and better future.

This is still worrisome to me:
