Hi folks,
I have a 1997 Max IV w/ 20hp Kohler command. I am in the process of installing the red spring that I purchased from Jay @ RI. I have the clutch off the T-20 and sitting on my bench vise. I used a piece of allthread and some sockets to depress the fixed ramp so that I could remove the snap ring. The snap ring is off now. How do you pull the fixed ramp off the keyed shaft ? I saw the video where one person heated the ramp with a torch and then the spring popped it off. I would prefer not to melt my plastic ramp sliders by using a torch. Is there a good method to pull it off without heat ? After I get the fixed ramp off and replace the spring, what is the procedure for reinstalling the fixed ramp ? Does it have to be "clocked" a certain amount before engaging the keyway ? Also, I want to replace my plastic ramp sliders, mine look worn after 16 years. How do you R&R the plastic ramp sliders ? Thanks for any help that you can provide.
Pete
