The 5000 also has a 3/4" shaft at the ends and will snap under severe load. The G50B in the Superchief would more than deliver a "severe" enough load to snap it in my opinion. You'd end up fabricating an awful lot of bracketry and idlers to fit any of the Baker/Hill transmissions in a later frame, too.
I'm with Larry- better to go with the T20 in this case.
