Thread: Squeaky Max chains?

  1. #1

    Question Squeaky Max chains?

I just got a Max II and it has started to squeak when it turn or starts to move. It sounds like an old WW1 tank. Any suggestions, I have been lubricating chains, bearing etc.. cant figure it out, new to 6X6.

    Thanks

Are you sure it's the chains and not bad bearings? Try lifting the whole machine in the air and rotate the tires by hand. You may find some really sloppy bearings/bushings.

i have seen this before on older max2s the bushings on the inside end of the axle are either worn out or dry it may be as easy as pulling the axles off the stub shafts and lubing the bushings or if they are worn replaceing the oillight bushings .......
they dont call me mad because im angry!!!!! im just a little crazy thats all!!!!

Mad Max has nailed it. If you remove the axles to lube/ replace bushings, take the time to drill a hole in each axle and install grease fittings. it will keep you from having the same problem down the road and make the bushings last a whole lot longer
