    Engine Misfire / Won't Idle

Well finally got one. Yippie!!!!!. Now I knew what I was getting when I bought it and I think I got a pretty good deal. Paid 800 for it. Max 2. Electric start didn't work but started with one pull every time. 16 horse vanguard. Drove strong just has a little miss in it throttle is slow and won't idle. Came home and tightened bolt on solenoid and key start works great now. Just can't get that miss out. Carb has been cleaned.???????? Please help if you have had this problem and fixed it before

If it runs the same with new plugs i would check compression.
I think the briggs has problems with sticky valves and pushrods falling off or bending.

I am with them on Bazooo, if they are not bent I would check the value clearance just to make sure that it hasn't came out of adjustment. My Max II did it at Busco durning the Spring ride and once I get it back to camp me and Fred were able to do an adjustment and that was all that was needed.

This sounds very similar to your valve issue that you were having with your Max, Cory. I clearly remember that.......once you guys had those valves back in spec, it was like a whole new engine.

if that doesn't work, I can point you to a youtube vid that will explain and show you how to adjust the lash on you valves. Its fairly easy, just takes a little bit of time. If this is the problem,,, you will definetely feel like you have a brand new engine.

No just changed th plugs. But got it running great now. I had to change the gaskets on the bottom of carb. It was sucking air. Ran great for about ten min. Before the coils both burned up. I must have ran one of the wires in the wrong place and it grounded to the engine block burning both coils before I could disconnect the battery. Boo hoo.
