    Welcome to the forum bgdrr1,

It sounds like you did alright for your first machine. The belt and a few bearings is no big deal. Call Buffalo Bearings and they will get you the right bearings. You want them with an r3 code for the triple seals. Tires and wheels are the biggest cost, so if you are good there, everything else takes relatively little money, just some good old elbow grease. Post pics in the gallery when you get a chance too.
I build my machines on a budget. If you can't respect that you can kiss my Attex

    Good day all,
Hawksmore here, I live in Reno Nevada. There are a alot of miles of dirt out here. My home is about five miles from one of the areas best rock crawling areas. Moon Rocks. And we are about an hour from the Black Rock Desert. I am a professonal Falconer. We use falcons Hawks Eagles and Owls to remove pest birds from runways, wine grapes, landfills etc... I have a Rhino, and a Honda Grizzly Quad. We use the Rhino and the Quad almost daily in our work carrying the falcons to the field for work. I have been interested in the 6X6 world and finially found a Attex Chief basket case. The JLO motor runs but is way to noisy for me. The tub is in ok condition and the chain drive and berings are shot. The transmission looks ok and seemed to operate until I threw a chain in the first five minutes. I plan on replacing the two stroke with a four and going with newer axles and bearings. The tires are shot also.
i have been scouring this site for part numbers and sources for the needed parts but no luck. Any help out there ??
I would be happy to trade off the JLO. Any takers ?
Thanks in advance for any help and for the great site !

John here from Queensland Australia (metric!). Mechanical Engineering dropout, now working as a carpenter. Interested in 6x6 and tracked ATVs after having a 'what if' idea (miniaturising the TATRA style swinging axle system) for a 'go anywhere' vehicle for farm use/hunting/bush bashing etc. My research repeatedly brought me to this site and now I'm hooked.

Hello all!! I'm new to the board here (obviously). Been reading for a little while here as we(my brother and I) were hunting for a Scrambler to play with. Well, we finally found a couple and now are getting set to try to get them running. One is in OK shape but has been sitting for about 8 years outdoors. The other looks to need some more attention but we'll know more about that this week as we start to tear into them.

Our step father had a Scrambler back in the '70's that we would get to play with now and then so we wanted to find one to fix up and play with again. I'm sure we'll be leaning on this site to help us as we rebuild/restore these two machines. Ideally we would like to find one in better shape but we'll take what we can get at the moment.

I'll try to post some pics as we start working on them this week.

We live in south eastern Wisconsin.

I have been wanting an AATV (6X6) for about 40 years. When I was about 14 in the early 70s I saw a Honda 6X6 AATV at the dealer and even got the brochure. All I can remember is that it was red and had a 250cc engine and it was not made for very long. Does enyone know what that model was called? I cannot find any info on it on the web. As the dream evolved I developed a passion for Max ATVs but never had the means to buy such an expensive toy. Well I finally purchased a Max IV (circa 1996) about a week ago. I has an 18HP Vangaurd (which I am considering upgading) and came with a few extras like the roll cage, canopy, windshield, bilge pump, and a dual wheel kit (has 24" tires on 12" wheels). Only down side was the seller turned out to be a dishonest ***tard and he stole $1000 in cash from me. Well that is water under the bridge and I am looking forward enjoyong this new thing. For me the dual wheels may be handy as I live in the south and it is likely to spend some serious time in a slow moving deep river. It has been too damn hot to try it out much yet. My first addition will likely be a winch. Any other advise is appreciated.
