Need help with a Max IV frame question

Could someone with a Max IV take a look at the rear crossmember of their frame, specifically where the hitch bolts to the frame. I have the frame out of mine right now and that area is pushed in at the top of the frame slightly. It's always been like that since I've owned it so I assumed it was that way to accommodate the hitch mount but after looking at it I realize it might be tweaked and need to be replaced. So is the rear crossmember on your Max IV just a straight piece of channel steel?

The rear frame is supposed to be straight. I add 2inch channel iron to the inside to strengthen them. If you have the frame out it should be easily repaired with a jack and some blocks. They are usually pulled back at the bolt in the center. Good luck

How are the mount holes ect. for your transmission? When you have the frame out is the perfect time to install the upgrade kit from RI. Install instructions are in max manuals section here under wiring diagrams. It makes the rear frame like a 2012 model. Think less than $75 for parts. I also gusset the outside part of the trailer hitch and replace the 1/2 inch carage bolt with grade 8 and heavy washers. If your going to pull a trailer much it needs to be braced. Get it back together so you can ride!

I ordered and installed a new 2012 frame in my 1995/1996 Max IV about 3 months ago. The installation of the new frame was fairly painless except for adding a hole to mount the band brakes (the 2012 frame was setup for Disk brakes and I can't afford that upgrade yet). The only issues I did have was that the rear seat was mounted more to the rear and I had to redrill the seat mounting holes so I could use my old (1995/1996) rear engine cover. Because the seat was in a slightly different location the battery mount area was also slightly different and I had to purchase new battery hold bars (less than $5.00 at AutoZone).

My old frame and the new 2012 frame had a mounting hole for the rear trailer hitch (everything lined up perfectly and so far I've seen no problems).

No issue with the frame (I believe) but I have been having a problem lining up the chain tighteners (they have been popping a bit).
