Is the design of the carrier setup in something like Pro-E? I was just wondering who did the initial modeling of the carrier. I could watch it work all day long.

What a feeling of satisfaction when you pull the "little part" out of the machine and walk over to bolt it on...

The first carrier was made off a napkin sketch on a manual lathe. Then refined and then sent on to the lathe & mill.

Just thought I'd give an update on Bridget's Springer. The body's all cleaned and ready to start putting things back together. All the parts are ordered, and should be in the first of next week. The sideplates are out for the waterjet operation. When I get it back from them we just have to weld on all the tabs, which are also cut with the waterjet. Paint it and just bolt every thing together. While I'm waiting for all the parts I'll get the axles cut off and attach the CV flanges . We finished the carriers today ,and broached the internal spline in the wheel hubs. I'll post pic's of the assembly ,so you can see how easy it all comes together.

That's classic, hehe.

Whipper, have been wondering about the flywheel on your Briggs Attex. Is it stock or aftermarket. I know there are billet lightweight wheels made to rev and stay together, but the ones I've seen don't have magnets which = no charging system. Do you have a tach in the Attex, if so what does it say?

The flywheel in my attex is stock.Al @ Performace V-twins says I can get one for $350 (ouch) I'd like to get my hands on one.I'm sure I could make one myself. I've been shopping for a tach, Know anyone selling them with something better than a little digital read out? I want something I can see,

I know of 2 tachs recommended.. an analog Auto Meter "Jr Dragster" , and the Digitron stuff. Digitron has some kind of helmet mounted Wireless HUD display option. Other cheap tachs update too slow.. lag time on rev.

The flywheel "Online store with Racing Go Kart parts and Jr Dragster partsfor go kart racing and Jr Drag racing!

Both of us, esp you probably need a scattershield.. they wrap the exterior of the briggs fan/flywheel cover with strap steel around the OD. An aftermarket flywheel seems mandatory on the smaller lawn mower engines where they can come apart at 5-6000. Ours may be made better but if it fractures it could be deadly. ARC wheels are about 1/2 the weight of stock, rev quick off the corners on the lightweight racers but we may need more weight, I do more so than you. No magnet/charging system is an issue.

Latest update

Posting pics of the overview of this springer kit. The first pic shows most of the parts. Missing on the table are 4 trailing arms, 6 wheel hubs (those are in the 2nd pic) 6 limiter straps. We made a few modifications from the Attex. The side plates will be an 1 1/2" taller, the trailing arms an 1" longer (should get 7" of wheel travel) & we're using NEW (but discarded) front Rhino shocks. The fabshops putting long travel kits on Rhinos are just throwing away the shocks. Some shops are giving them to us or selling them for next to nothing. If these work out , it will help keep the cost down for the conversion. So Rhinos are good for something. So let us see how these work before anyone goes out there scrounging for Rhino shocks. Hope to start assembling next week.

Whipper, that picture really puts it into perspective just how much work is involved. I hope everything goes smoothly and like everyone else here I will be anxiously awaiting any updates.
