Sound off with your Max type, Serial #, and Year

Just bought one, and this is my 3rd post here.

Max II, 1986, serial 7400.

Previous owner(s) installed Vanguard 20HP V-twin, winch, and full roll cage.

On edit:
I'd better recheck the registration. (The new title's being processed) I see from the list above that #7400 should be around 1984 instead. Maybe I remembered the year wrong.

Okay, now I'm confused. I finally remembered to pull out the registration to look. (I don't have the new title yet, it takes our Washington state gov't eons to get paperwork done)

It is a 1986, and the serial both stamped on the plate and printed on the reg is 7400. That doesn't jive with the above list though, 7400 should be a 1984 or 1985 to land in the "right" place in the serial list.

I wonder if it is wrong. Oh well, it's ATV licensed now, so whatever.

I'll look at the clutch numbers since the 20HP was shoehorned in and isn't original. I have an optical boroscope with a skinny 48" long optical fiber bundle, so I'll send that in to see the numbers. It's too crammed in there to use a mirror.

In your case I would call RI and see if they have it in their records to be for sure. When I started this thread I found out that my wife's old Max II was a 2000 not a 2001 like I first thought.

I finally remembered to call RI before everyone left for the day. (They're three hours ahead of here)

A guy in the parts dept. had to "go look it up in the old book" and says it was built in 1985. So, the title is wrong. I guess nothing's new there, my 40' motorcoach powered by an industrial sized Caterpillar 3126B diesel is titled as a "gas powered" RV, but whatever.

So, the serial number of 7400 and 1985 year puts it in the list right where it belongs. I can sleep better now.

Oh yeah, I liked the guy's reaction: "The serial is seventy four hundred even?!?"

Serial number16228 max IV the list says it falls in the 99' to 00' but my registration says 2002 I'm confused . But what the heck its A mud bug so that's all that matters to me.
