How much chain tension do i need

So how much play should there be in the single chains between the axles?

Also, where can I find the "clip" on the pump clutch. I was told this was a weak part

    gokorn,
I,ve been off for a while...but when I tighten up my tentioners, I hook up a bungie and pull them up. Then I tighten up the set bolt. I think too tight is worse than too loose.

The c clip that fails on the secondary clutch is on the back side of the clutch. It holds the clutch together. You take the bolt out of the end of the shaft remove the belt and slide the clutch off. You may need to remove the drive chain. You will also need to remove the e brake cable on that side to get access to remove the clutch. The clutch may have had a conical type washer installed behind it to help keep the clutch together if the c clip fails. I do know of one clutch that came apart even with the safety washer installed. It is fairly easy to get to so probably once a season I would consider replacing the c clip they can be had a fastener store find the heaviest one that will fit. There is an upgraded secondary clutch available that is a worthwhile investment and performs better also.

If this c clip is a known problem why hasn't Matt replaced it with something more robust? He seems pretty good about making upgrades to the Ox when he finds something a miss.

I believe this problem is with the 2009 and older Muddoxes. The 2010 and newer models are more of a direct drive to the hydraulic pumps thus no clutch.
Smile, it's only gonna get worse.
