    bleeding hydraulic wheel motors

    This question is for Hydrotraxx or similar machines that use wheel motors .

    -When the hydraulic oil filters need to be replaced , does the system need to be bled?
    -What is the proper procedure to use when you do need to bleed the entire hydraulic system?
    -Is there a way to get the wheel motors to free wheel in case of an engine failure in the bush and you need to tow the disabled hydraulic machine out?

    No bleeding required. Just let the system idle for 10 minutes or so and the air in the from the charge loop will exhaust out of the pump case back to tank.
    If you change hoses on the wheel motors you will let air into the system which will eventually exhaust out the hot oil shuttle valve when you operate the machine. All the air will eventually get to the reservoir. Just don't go down any hills until full control has returned. shouldnt take more than 10 minutes or so. Some rigs are equipped with free wheeling valves. otherwise you have to disconnect the motor hoses from the pump and make a short loop bypassing the pump.

    Take the input hose on the pump and connect it to the output hose coming off the pump. You are just bypassing the pump.
