Perhaps this is where the 3 to 5 adapter originated?

the tank trainers seem to have come on 8 inch rims. Mine had standard 5 lug hubs on the original axles... no adapters. pretty sure that at minimum the LF axle was stock as it was broached on the inner end for a spedo cable
