Ouch! Put some kind of silicone sealant (or even better yet, this really great stuff called Goop) around that area and it should be pretty much water tight still after you mount it up.

J.P. is right, tube and glue the thing, it should hold up, I had a similar issue with a RAWHIDE III a few years back, its still holding air and hasn't debeaded yet.
