Balloon tires are no longer made this way any more but should be brought back.
This offered greater buoyancy in water, raised the water line, reduced the drag and increased the water speed on AATVs. Why did they stop? Bias ply tires are no longer used in automotive and I guess it would not be cost effective yet any one with a few of these lying around can almost name there price.

Bias ply tires are still used some in automotive applications. I happen to have a set for my Jeep.

Maybe Bias plys are still around but the Balloons are not. Actually you are right because they still use Bias ply tires on air planes and agricultural equipment.

ias ply tires are still available for many applications ,especially off road vehicles.
Almost all large tires for trucks, Jeeps, etc. are available either way.

The Old style Balloon tires rode like a magic carpet, a real sense of flying over the terrain. They floated better with less listing with a faster speed thru water and snow. These new tires with the wheels feel like goose stepping on blacktop.

I happen to have a set of 6 of these that I am willing to sell. =)
5 fat cats and a Firestone of the same size (also a balloon). 5 hold air perfectly, and the sixth has a slow leak.
two have some surface cracking, but hold air and perform fine.
      Anybody looking?
