  • Recommended Spare Part

    Hey guys,
    Just a quick note.
There is a spring that runs from the throttle linkage to the governor arm, located under the throttle linkage assembly (hard to see). I would recommend that if you don't already have one as a spare, get one. The one on my Argo broke last Thurs night, while I was out on a frozen lake (12 MILES from my truck, 3 feet of snow). Fortunatly, a friend left his "Broke Down" Argo out at this particular lake last fall, and I only had a short, 1 mile walk, to get to it (I actually had my snowshoes with me, so it wasn't that bad). I stole the spring from his Argo and got mine running again. I will have to go back and replace the spring on his Argo, but that's easy.

    Hey Rd,

I'm curious if you could have towed his Argo for him. I can't imagine leaving my broke vehicle for that long!

I would be happy to help the guy out in any way possible, and "yes" I could tow him out, with a little help from a couple other machines and guys.

The thing is, he is a "friend" and all, but he is taking NO iniciative to do anything. I, and others, have offered to help him get going, we have offered to pull the motor out had haul it to town for him, we have offered to install a new set of heads for him.................He aknowledges that these are all good ideas, and that it would help. HOWEVER, he has not talen any of us up on our offers, and I refuse to help someone that won't help themselves.
I'm sure that I know what the problem is, but am not going to just fix it for him, if he will not contribute in some way.
This may sound a little harsh, but, I have asked this guy for help before and while his intentions are good, he does not often come through.

On another note, I have "finally" managed to get MY quad out of the bush, it had been sitting out, about 8 miles from the nearest road, since LAST SPRING. I packed a trail to it with the Argo, let the snow set up for a couple days, and then had my wife ride it out on Monday. It's an '89 Honda 300 4x4. We have had temps as low as -45 deg F this winter. I just drove up to it, turned the key on, hit start, and it fired right up.

        RD,

I understand, totally. I've dealt with people like that before. you feel sorry for them but at the end of the day they do nothing to help themselves. Maybe you can buy it off him for cheap?

                Tommy,

What's the street value of KOI these days? I just have a picture of Pauly Walnuts from the Sapranos standing in the pond with a fishing net when the motion sensor flood turns on!

LOL, Around here you have to worry about animals. Bears like to chew up the seats and gas tanks, Squirels and porqupines like to chew the wireing.

No, I do have about 3.5 acres out in the country (where I live), but all the places I ride are not owned by anyone. There are a few places that are not open to Atv's around here, but for the most part, you can ride anywhere. I can climb into my Argo, at home, and drive it into town to the grocery store to pick up supper, if I want to.
Most of the people in town don't bother to load up their machines to go out for a ride, they just ride from their house out to where they want to go.

As I said before man you are lucky. In some towns around me (not all but a few) if the cops see you with a 4x4 or mx bike ON YOUR TRUCK, they will follow you to see where you are going, or just pull you over and basically harass you. I wish it were easier for my family and I to move away to a place that fitts my way of living. I would sell my excavating bus. and home, and get a part time job somewhere running heavy equipment, in a place we all call "DREAMLANDVILLE" I don't even care if it's in the U.S. I just want to enjoy riding with my family without having my machines taken by local or state police. I THINK IT'S WRONG what the police and townsmen do to atvers..

                          P.S.
If I were to ride my machines up to town ( 250' ) from my house the police would get me @ about 25'. 1 side of me is woods and streams the other side is town..
Strictly speaking, you are not allowed on the roads with an ATV, but if you are just crossing them, trying to get out of town or back home they wont bother you. If you start tearing up peoples lawns..........Well, just don't get caught. By the police, or the property owner

It is a different way of life up here

OK, Crown Land is what I meant.
"THEY" say it belongs to all of us............I take that to mean ...................It Belongs To Nobody
