  • Argo 6x6 Frontier Axle Extensions

I have just purchased a 2010 Argo 6x6 Frontier, It came with 18" supertracks. The guy who owned it had put on the axle extensions for the tracks and left them on. The manual says they recommend removing the extensions when running only wheels. I was wondering why the extensions would have to be removed and if anybody had damage to the machine because of leaving them on.
    Thanks Bruce

Some guys run with them on, it does create unnecessary wear and tear as the axles are longer. This generates more stress on the drive train. It also makes your Argo wider, not as easy to trailer or maneuver in tight places. All in all running with them on shouldn’t cause you any major issues. It just shortens the life expectancy of some other components.

Thanks for the information Hurtmudman. Seeing leaving the extensions on won't cause a catastrophic failure and the snow will be in the mountains in a couple of months, I'll leave them on and remove them next spring when I remove my tracks.
