  • argo chain issue

What size chain goes from the trans down to the idler shaft on my 89 argo.I was thinking double40 but not sure. For some reason i have different sprockets on the trans,They both have the same amount of teeth but the left side has small teeth on that sprocket.Anyone run into this or maybe it has been changed at one point.

I would bet the sprocket has been worn off due to miss alignment. I have had one that wore one side down to half the thickness and made look like it was done on a lathe. The idler shaft had shifted to one side due to the set screws being loose on the idler bearings. Had to replace the brake disk, the idler was not affected. The chain will be double 50...

I'm sure that is what has happened. You discribed it as if you where looking at it.I got all my double50 drive chains replaced i just need the 2 trans chains,They are smaller than double 50.I think they are double40 but would like to make sure before i order it.
