  • 8x8 argo diesel project-aka screaming eagle

So last september I bought an old 8x8 argo in need of well pretty much everything. No motor, seats, floorboards are wreaked, tub is cracked, frame is bent, wiring is non existant, no hood and the list goes on. The axle bearings were replaced by the last owner 4 years ago but haven't had a single mile put on them. I have a 340cc kawasaki liquid cooled 2-stroke that was going to be the heart of the beast until I found a diesel for it. Well I got two 10hp diesel generator that did not run a few months ago, one needed injector cleaned and new fuel lines and the one had the generator short out. Now I have a donor motor! Removed motor from generator and did a quick tear down to check for anything that needed to be replaced. Everything is in good shape and now back together and waiting to get an adapter made for my clutch and it will be ready to drop in. Looking forward to the torque and milage with the diesel, at WOT these motors will run for 24 hours on 15L of fuel. The 40L tank that's going in should last a while up north. But not looking forward to the tub repair, its not going to be fun.

Cool! I have an Attex Li'ltruck with a ten horse air cooled diesel and it runs forever on a tank of fuel (smokes a little though). I'm not sure how well it will power a bigger machine but for a light amphibian it works.
Stuck in the seventies- not in the swamp.

    (6) Attex, a Hustler, a Super Swamp Fox, (2) Tricarts, (3) Tri-sports, a Sno-co trike, 3 Dunecycles, and a Starcraft! ...so far
