I think you are going in the wrong direction with surface finish. Slight pitting will actually hold "pockets of grease" and work better. The seals seem to be a little forgiving and handle a less than perfect finish also. I do know on my used Argo axles the conversion worked great and was water tight.

Pretty darn slick I say that fella thinks on his feet,heck that the same material I think that they build sliders out of for sleds and they last thousands of miles and see alot of grit from road crossing and dirt turned up on trails as well as some pretty high speeds good one there Adair.when they get a block figured out for the bearing extended machines I would take a serious look at that,kinda too bad I have a complete HDI brg and axle set up sitting here in a box but at least I would have new axles to start with,interesting very ingenious.NCT

Seen some pics of that jet boating you do,you are a possessed man RD,gotta say I luv it great fun to bad its wasted on the young,dont mind me Iam jealous I have tried at one time or another jus about everything motorsports related but now my beat up carcass is hurtin daily,heck Iam up hacking away on this computer trying to recoup after crawling around servicing one of three vehicles that Iam beating back and forth to the north.LMAO NCT
