  • Avenger grease fitting

I had a bearing go bad on the idler shaft, and I can't figure out how to get this grease fitting apart. I really would like to clean it, and make sure the contaminates don't trash the new bearing.
It has metal ends with a plastic hose, but without crawling inside the engine compartment I can't see how they hook together.

On a side note...Why is it sooooooo hard to get to this bearing. Grrrrrrrr

Just dropped a reply somewhere?dang it. Hi the buggyman 1, must be clamped under rail?if it slides back and forth removing zerk with nutdriver may let it slide out,fun putting it back though. Why not wipe each end clean and flush with grease?. Homemade ones we used pipe couplings to splice, your run shouldn't, have needed one at install.
You should see me grease rear bearing one side of mine. Thinking of selling tickets next time. And i used to be a grease monkey!. You probably solved it by now.

No, I haven't figured it out yet. I gave up last night. The extension hose IS clamped under the rail. A nut on the back side holds it, and the nut will not slide past the fitting that screws into the flangette. If I can't get it apart, I will clean the outside, pump fresh grease thru it, and lay a rag down on the frame to keep it clean.

What year is your avenger? Mine is an 08, and those idler bearings do not have remote access grease zerks like in your pics. The fittings are deep in under and behind the brake disc directly on the bearing retainer......tricky to get to but all the other zerks are pretty easy access.

My Avenger doesn't have the remote zerks either.
