  • c6 c7 quadraplegic riding his modified argo

For those that don't know this is my stepson Brandon that i built the handicap accessible argo for.He is a c6 c7 quadraplegic wich means he is paralyzed from his chest down and has limlted use of his hands.I built this argo to give him the ability to go off roading. This thread is to show his progress and some ride videos.

http://youtu.be/6KyyOyNdjjQOther than a test ride this is Brandons first ride to the end of our road and back,About 3 miles. This is his first time ever driving a 6x6 so i think he is learning quickly.

Glad to see he's up and driving, but what's with all that "not with ME in here" when Brandon wanted to take his toy through a little rough stuff?

Monoped and jp thanks. You can't tell in the video that his right hand looses grip and he has to let off the throttle and get another grip. I found a piece called a cruise assist that fits on the grip to help him use his palm to hold the throttle in position.

Is that cruise assist you mentioned the same thing that they use on a motorcycle to help hold the throttle open on long trips?

Oh, only 5'... can't say I blame you then!
Thinking of the challenges of a total rebuild and modification such as this and the way you selflessly met these challenges just proves to me once again that 6X6 world has the best members of any forum - anywhere! And you are at the TOP of that list!

Thanks for the kind words. You are correct about 6x6 world being the best site ever and I am sure that most members would do the same. This has been a very challenging experience watching him go through the life changing experiences that he has been through in the last 14 months. The Argo just makes life a little better for him and the joy of seeing him ride is more than enough for me.

Thanks Fred,That was a 6 mile ride and he did great.I do have to make something to hold his feet in place and a little throttle mod but other than that he is doing great and loving it.Man hate to hear you are having problems with your hustler,Hope get everything straightened out and everyone has a great ride this weekend.

God luck with Brandon and good job on the Argo, kinda looks like the kit Argo had tried in the 80's. Here's a picture of one some one took a stab at but never completed, it was supposed to be water tight and have a ramp door. This Magnum was never sealed and had a swing door ( the machine was rolled hard years later so frame is tweaked ), the also made a Conquest which had a cherry picker style crane that swung for both rider in front and chair in back.000_0003.jpg000_0002.jpg000_0001.jpg

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
                              Joe Camel never does that.
