hi , i finnally got round to tearing down the argo as i noticed i had a outer bearing gone , so i decided to have a good look at it and replace some things as its getting alot of miles on it, and i want to depend on the argo .
first off i found 4 outer bearings had movement in them , < the 2nd and third axles on both sides> so those are getting replaced with new seals in the flanges and one new flange < caught bearing a little late>
next the chains , i noticed my single 60's where close to the last notch on the adjuster so i decided to replace them and iam hoping this will be good for the sprockets changing it b4 it gets bad, so after 2200 miles they are getting redone!
the front double 50 ive allready replced 1000 miles ago , and geuss what they need it again ! so there out , and of course over the 2200 miles i have replaced my idler chains at 1000 miles and will again now ,
the very front chains i never ran , as it made it easyr to steer < i run tracks 100% of the time > now iam thinking if i add them maybe the second double 50's wont see as much wear? so iam ordering them as well . so there we have it , rechain the entire machine , 4 new outer bearings ,, and it should be good for another 2000 miles ;P)
not to bad i think probly cost me , single 60's got 40 feet for 400 bucks
outer bearings 30 ish a peice so lets say 120
one outer flange and gaskets 3 seals for the other flanges 6 bucks each 2 required x3= 36
still waiting on a qoute for the front chains but the second 50's cost me 64 a cain so i can quess the fronts wont be more then that so another 240 max.
all in all i have to conclude that for the miles i put on this machine in a short two years < yes i drive this thing like mad> just under 1000 bucks in parts to maintain it < my labor> if you consider what the argo costs new ,, iam getting away cheap!!
very happy with the machine and look forward to many more hours and miles of fun .
