  • Centaur thoughts.

Hi, I'm looking through here and I cannot find much info on the Argo centaur, I have been offered one but I do not know much about them and have never even seen one over here.

I've not had a look at it yet, and don't know the year, I think it will be an older machine......

Does anyone have one of these on here? I thought it might be a good promotional vehicle, I also have an Argo Taurus 3 wheeler and a fleet of avenger/conquest hire machines so do know my way around them.

Any photos of ones kitted out?

    Cheers Rory

I truly do not know much either. I think that they are meant more for "indutrail work" aplications and less the "recreational" crew. Also, ODG says they "Dont float" but i beleive that other memebers have said they do... ODG is just covering their hinies. Try to take it for a spin and let us know how you like it!

I will see when I can get a look at it, I don't know what condition etc but if it's cheap it may be worth buying as long as it's complete.

This has been used on a shooting estate and not by an exploration or oil company but you never know, it may be wrecked. I'll post some photos when I go to lookat it.

          Cheers

I'm currently on an oil platform in the middle of the north sea, home a week today so I'll see what I can come up with, even if it's rough it might be worth it.

What year is it? I know the resale holds up well on these things, I've seen 8 year old (Turbo Diesel) machines sell for 25-30 G's (with low hrs). The gas versions go for less...

I don't know enough about them to give an informed opinion, but I can put in a thought or two.

When the Centaur's first came out, they were the "Latest/Greatest" machine out there. Many were purchased by various Oil/Gas Companies around here.
Currently NONE of those Oil/Gas Companies run Centaurs and have not for a few yrs. All of them went back to Conquests or more reciently to the Avengers. I've never been able to nail down the reasons behind the ................ dislike for them, but there sure aren't any around here anymore.

Personally, I would love a chance to really try one out, and if I could find one in diecent shape for a good price, I'd go for it.

Thanks for that. From what I see they were very expensive new, that's probably why I have never seen one over here.
If it's not too bad I will take it, I can always move it on. Hopefully it will be a diesel version. I am trying to work out shipping quotes for a set of Adair tracks but shipping is around $800 to get them here plus import duty etc. Just trying to work out how to do this. I think they would fit on both the avenger and centaur. I would like to kit the centaur with rear hiab/crane.

The only thing I don't like is the steering set up.

                      Cheers
