  • Hauling the Argo

I am still in the market for a trailer. We bought a small pice of land w cabin to play on and it was time to move the Argo. The only local and reasonable option I could find was a uhaul car carrier. I needed wide due to the wide tracks but was a bit worried about the open center as I didn't have my measurements w me. It was perfect ( tho I had to tell them I was hauling an accord with no plate as they wouldn't rent it for an Argo) My fun truck was a bit much with 557 ci. They wouldn't let me rent the trailer with my smaller frontier evens 6300 lb tow capacity. I made the best of it and did a nice burnout at a light with the load in tow next to some snooty people in a prius.( if it was any of u, the throttle stuck!

Just got my lil' beasty back from Tom's a week or two ago ...had a primary clutch issue that made a lot of secondary problems which for a time masked the problem until it got bad enough to point to the clutch as the cause ... we use a double snowmobile trailer but we are looking for a 4 place on to carry 2 6x6's I am sure the 4 place will easily carry the 8x8 and extras .... just a suggestion .. again nice machine I am happy with the Adair tracks myself so far ..

Nothing more sexy than a good old ford that is built to the hilt pulling argos. Kind of make a man feel like he is ready for the next world war! 557 CI!! my punched .30 over 460 is a stump pulling monster, do you have to put it in 4 wheel drive to run it on wet pavement??? get a 2 position snow moible trailer. Most are rated for 1500 lbs and you wont even notice it is there when your pullin it!

With a mild cam it is still over 700 ftlb of torque. It is a puller for sure. I have snapped driveshafts ( all upgraded now) blew the front end now upgraded to a d60, blew the rear d60( just rebuilt as I could not find a locking d70)

Uhaul cares very much and u can't get it without telling them something as the have to plug it in to their system to see if the truck/load combo is "approved."

I am looking for a big utility trailer as I need to haul a 8000lb tractor also

That is a sweet rig, always liked a big jacked up 4X4 no matter what the make, just so long as it was BIG and JACKED UP, love the argo too I sure wish you had gotten some vid of the Prius occupant's expression when you lit those tires up. Had to laugh at that one.
X2 what Sparkola said. What's it to them what you are hauling on the trailer, if you're paying money then they shouldn't give you flak about it. They do like money don't they? Thanks for getting my day off to a good start.

              Sweet, Nice Truck

Some care, some don't. I've never been asked what I was hauling with a Uhaul Trailer, but I can understand WHY they would want to know. If I was renting out trailers, I would want to know what was being hauled (Or at least the weight of what was being hauled). I stopped my truck one time to watch a guy loading a Skid Steer Loader up on a Snowmobile "Tilt" Trailer. Everything was working out great for him untill he got the machine up high enough to make the trailer tilt down. It came down so hard, the machine dropped through the deck and squished his axle. To this day, I'm still not sure how he got the Skid Steer up out of the trailer frame, lol.

Yes, very nice old Ford you have there. I love older trucks and your Ford sure looks clean and very tastefully done! Is that a 250 or a 350? I'm guessing with all the factory chrome it's the "Ranger XLT" trim package. Beautiful truck!

F250 trailer special xlt. Factory cruise/ps/pb/window tint/ split rear/Ac and side tool box. With the rebuild I kept it all. One reason I went with a factory DOVE block after a good sonic test. Block on the dyno. We kept it mild so we could still drive it. I converted to 4 bolt mains, small 950 double pumper, kept the iron heads but opened th
Up to 2.02/1.76 if memory serves, mild cam and he still had trouble holding it back at low rpm on the dyno due to the natural low torque it makes. HP wasnt huge but above 600 which was fine TQ over 700. I am converting it to fuel injection next. We expect 15% gains in the low end, top won't change. It also has a line lock and electronic header dumps. It makes for quite a show

I know what you mean brother. My 460 in the old bronco has been balenced and blue printed. It isnt the monster that yours is, just a matched eldenbrock carb/intake/cam. One thing about it, when the torq converter hits 1400 and it is full lock up, i either go or dig a hole
