  • Biggest tire on vanguard2??

Hello, i bought my first argo not to long ago and im trying to find some tire(22-10-8) for reasonable price to fit my tracks but i have not luck yet.

I was wondering what is the biggest tire that we could installed on a vanguard. If i cant find tire for the plastic tracks i have now, i might just sell those tracks and buy bigger tire, more aggresive tread too.

Thanks for your help. Argo rock a lot more than Quad.

24" tires generally have +/- 0.25 inch in tolerance on the diameter @ 5 psi and after sitting for 24hrs. This means you could end up with a 24.25 inch to 23.75 inch tire in diameter. The Vanguard axle center to centers = 24 inch. If your tires are 24 inch or larger they will touch, if you can find smaller 24 inch tires that measure 23.75 inch they can work leaving you with 0.5 inch of clearance between tires. Just be cautious, if any of your axles have a little wobble or are out of true this can easily take up the little clearance you may gain by using smaller 24 inch tires. This is why most dealers will only recommend 22 inch tires. The 22’s are just as wide and you only gain an extra inch of height by going to 24’s. Not worth the hassle, risk or cost to change over in my opinion.

I currently have a 2000 Argo vanguard with 25" rawhide IIIs on it. I bought the machine used with the tires on already and have no problem with clearance of any kind. I dont know if there's any modifications to make them fit but it all looks pretty stock to me. Does this make sense?

Some where around that year Argo moved the front axle forward and the rear back to make room for the 25" tired Bigfoot model. The Vanguard and Van2 use the same body upper and lower. You must have one with this modification or you are running them with 0 air pressure.

That explains alot! I'm currently running 3psi on all tires and have a clear 1/4 inch space to the body, never had any rubbing or clearance issues. The 25" tires i feel make a HUGE difference in traction i couldn't imagine anything smaller unless i had tracks.
