I greased all the bearings, but I can't see to grease the bearings on the inside of the idler shaft. Do you have to take the disk breaks off, or is it a sealed bearing. My manual doesn't show any nipple?
Thanks!
Which Argo is this, an Avenger? If so, the nipple will be in one of three places. My best guess would say that it was under the shaft on the flange but it can also be on the top side of the flange depending on how it was installed. Finally, some Avengers had extensions that actually locate the nipple several inches away from the idler shaft, towards the seat. I think buggyman had a thread with photos showing the extension.
I had a bearing go out on the machines right side Idler shaft on my 2005 Avenger. The inner bearing flange has an extension to make access a little easier.
Thanks guys! Its an older ic model, but its been (aside from the motor) totally updated. I'll have to take another look at it, but I couldn't see anything like a grease nipple.
Well, I went and checked and rechecked, and I can't for the life of me find any, so it must be a sealed bearing. I guess (hope) it should last along time since all other atvs have them, as well as cars and trucks. Newargoowner, how long has yours lasted?
Thanks again Guys!
I bought the machine with 400 hours on it and did a rebuild and replace everybearing. i only have 8hrs on them so i can't help you on how long they will last. but the old bearing were sealed bearing and needing changed. They were making noise, a couple were ok, but i replaced them all since it was tore apart.
Thanks newargoowner! I have about 47hrs on the total rebuild, and all the bearings seem really tight. The guy that did the rebuild did a great job! He was also the one who directed me to this sight, which has been a lot of help for me since I'm a new owner also.
