  • Problems accessing and removing oil filter for 2004 argo avenge

Bought a 2004 avenger with only 82 hours. Looks new. Doing my first oil change. Having lots of trouble accessing and removing the oil filter. Very limited space for hands or tools. Does anyone have any tips or tricks? I have the Kohler engine.
    Thanks

You could install one of these and relocate the filter.......or put a 2 stroke in it.

on my 2007 avenger getting the filter off is easy, my argo dealer says that earlier models needed to have the pulley removed for access. you could get a manual or contact ODG. good luck

Thanks guys. You confirmed what I thought. No easy way to do it. The pulley is the biggest obstacle in the way. It looks like I'll have to remove it.

It can be done without removing the pulley.......it's just not easy. The filter, on the other hand, is "special". It is tiny, I think the shortest filter I have ever seen.
I was thinking of relocating mine, but it just doesn't get changed that often.

I take the belt off and use a large pliers too loosen it than I finish by hand. Not much place but that way it's not too bad.
