My Bigfoot has had the low gear issue for some time- its starting with the reverse gear now... As I'm dependent on my ARGO to plow the driveway, and its mid winter- any suggestions on a quick remedy that will take the machine out of service for the shortest possible time (in case it snows of course) I've put a couple hundred hours on my machine since I last posted- yes- its been a long time- glad to see you're all still here getting muddy! -cheers!

Sounds to me like you have some gear issues and going into the transmission to replace worn gears is the true remedy. When they get worn / torn up the transmissions have a tendance to pop out of gear. If a guy could come up with what parts to buy you and are comfortable doing the work yourself you could possibly pull it out and put it in without too much time. Unfortunetly if its your first time it might not be so quick.

Had written a long answer to this but got lost, sounds as if you will need a new hi/lo gear input shaft and reverse idler. I also suggest new bearings in range shaft and input shaft and input seal. should be able to do it in a day.sigpic
My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
Joe Camel never does that.
Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

I agree with ARGOJIM, replace both input shaft and reverse idler gear if you do it yourself. Keep the input shaft for a clutch holder for the secondary clutch when you perform service, works great. RR
