I have my eye on a 98' Conguest 8x8. First thing I noticed in the pics is that it has different tires on the 4 corners? When I go look at this or any machine, what shuld I look for? What would be signs to just cut and run? Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

There is a buyers guide on the homepage. That is a really good tool to print out, read over, and take with you when you go yo look at an aatv. Different tires is not a good thing. If they are sized differently, they will cause additional stress on the drive train. Tires of the same brand very in size from one run to the next so you can imagine how hard it is to properly size using different styles.l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

Welcome to the site Joe. You are wise to not jump on the first Argo you find. It seems that most are way over priced. Spend a little time and discover which Argo 8 wheeler will suit you best. You can also browse the "for sale" section here AATVs For Sale
Oh Look, a great deal on an Avenger. Hmmmm, I wonder who that belongs to.

Thanks for all the advise. I have printed the buyers guide out & will use it. Here is a pic of the one that caught my eye comes with 2 extra new tires, extra cvt belt, 2 extra idler chains. He also says all the tires & chains are brand new. And I can get it all for 4500. Any red flags on all the parts? I don't mind putting a little money one. I would rather have one that I can just get in & go tho.

$4500 is not a bad price for a Conquest. What do you know about the seller? Some people say they "just replaced" things, but it was really 3 years ago and 200 hours on the machine. Other people will say the bearings are good, but really wouldn't know a good one from a bad one. I would also like to think these people are not lying, but rather just don't know any different. We really can't tell much from the one picture, can you post a link to the ad? The best advise is just to check it over really well.

True, the guy could be lying. I never met him. Just another ad on Craigslist. It's about a 3 hour drive for me so I'm just trying to gather as much info as I can. Here is the link to th Craig's list ad ARGO conquest 8x8 (amphibious) - $5200 (McConnelsville)
The other info I he sent to me in emails. I'll just have to brake down and go check it out this weekend.

500 hours is not a problem for the engine, transmission, or HDPE body. The big thing is to look at the stuff that wears: Bearings, chains, sprockets, and even axles. Argos, due to the bearing/seal design will wear on the axle where the seal rides. There are threads on the site here that tell how to repair the groove, but I think many people just replace the axles.
The lack of a winch bothers me, so does the mis-matched tires, but other than that......just look it over well.

6 wheel or 8 wheel? Member Liflod had a nice 6 wheel for sale in the Pittsburg area. http://www.6x6world.com/forums/ebay-...quest-6x6.html

Ok set to pick up a Conquest on Saturday. Now a new question. Is there anything I should upgrade? Where do I buy parts? Where do I buy accessories? I know the thing needs a brush guard. Are tracks a must? Are there ever any used tracks for sale? Any tools special tools I need to get? Yes I'm stoked. Sorry for all the questions.Last edited by Twizted1; 01-29-2013, 08:09 PM.
