  • 2009 avenger

Well, I finally took the plunge! Came home with an Argo last weekend. It is an 09 avenger with only a winch for options. I was thinking about getting some tracks for the snow. Are plastic tracks an option or am I restricted to rubber due to clearance issues (with the stock wheels)?
    Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
This is a great forum with a TON of info.
I recognize RD from a couple of other forums.

Congratulations on your new purchase. It's hard to go wrong with an Avenger.

        Hey Jet,

I have run plastic tracks on an older conquest I owned and now run the rubber on an 07 Avenger. To me there is no comparison and rubber would definetly be my first choice. The plastic tracks are okay but rubber do much better in my opinion on hills especially. One downfall of the rubber tracks are the chain wind-up issues that some people have experienced but the Track Tuners from Adair have eliminated that issue with mine. I did not have alot of windup issues but the tuners looked like a good idea to me so I ordered a set and they do work. I have spun the wheels inside the tracks on a steep hill here (fairly deep snow) and as they are new I am still fine tuning the air pressure so this may be my fault. I see you are in Peace River, I'm just south east of you near Slave Lake and would imagine snow conditions are much the same. The plastic supertracks are great in deep snow as long as you have the power to turn them but I think you would be impressed with the Avenger with whichever set of tracks you decide to go with. Good Luck.

Jetlee if you have 25's on the Avenger you are gonna need the rubber track, plastic tracks will fit on the 24's or 22's but are not wide enough inside for the 25's, the Adair track is also an option.

The Adair tracks are the way to go. Here's a video of me in a pond just after installing them on an Avenger:

Thanks for the replies. Does anyone know how the Adair tracks are in the snow? We have about 3 feet right now.

Can anyone tell me if a windshield from an 80's model argo will fit an avenger?
                  Thanks.

Based on this, they are different. adairargosales - Argo Windshields

While you MAY be able to adapt the windshield mount to the body, the upper frame(glass shape) is wider and should you ever want a top you will need an early top, the wider w/s will hang out over the body lines of the Avenger ( ie shoulder pads no shoulder pads).
