  • Water in belly pan

Just wondering how everybody stores there machines inside or out? I notice when I get back from a ride there is a little bit of water under the chains from snow falling inside the machine I tried ramping the front of the machine to drain it out the drains but usually there isn't enough water to come out. Just curious if leaving that water in there and storing the machine outside in the cold if this will damage anything?

I there is not enough to drain out, I don't worry about it. It'll just freeze over night, no big deal. If it concerns you, suck it out with a shopvac

I got one of the covers Adair makes for my Bigfoot and it works and looks great!

Before that I used a denier tarp to keep water and snow out.

What do you do if you have kids climbing in and out all day in the snow?
Those covers are nice, but it's the snow that the kids drag in that I can't deal with. Have you seen those molded inserts that are formed to fit the back? Don't remember where I saw them.

I think Argo makes those (they have the Argo logo molded in). Tim had one on the machine he brought to Wyoming last year and we chatted about it. They are made for the newer machines but with some cutting here and there can be tweaked to fit an older conquest. I don't know how well.

            Buzzy,

Mine lives outside with the plugs out and sloped to drain. Mine has a top that keeps the snow out of the inner tub but snow still melts through the hood and runs through. I've looked inside and there will be an ice slick below the chains in the channels but so far the drain holes haven't frozen shut.

Yeah I guess I was thinking more of keeping snow and rain out of the machine when it's sitting outside. I usually don't worry about snow in the floor pans as around here it stays very cold all winter and I store my machine in a unheated garage.

I think you just have to be careful of having water around the chains that might freeze and lock up your machine. If that's a possibility then I either drive up an incline, use my truck ramps (like these), or vaccum the water out.

Re cargo liner you may have seem these -that maybe the best solution for the kids and toboggans type of cargo

That's the ticket, one or two of those would solve a number of my problems. Would work good to keep blood out of my machines in hunting season too, lol. I never knew that Adair sold them. Would be nice to try one to see how much in modifications it would take to make it fit a Conquest.

When I bought my machine the previous owner had a piece made up from heavy vinyl material that could be placed in and taken out with ease. It would just snap on like a canopy. Works real good for keeping the blood out when hunting. Could also keep snow out but I do not wory about that as i use a canopy in the winter.
