I was wondering if anybody ever extended the exhaust/muffler system up and to the end of the ROPS? Any ideas? I have a 2010 8x8 frontier.

I would think, with some flexible exhaust tubing or something similar, that you could probably run it up and let it discharge where ever you like. I would watch the routing to prevent someone/something from a burn due to accidental contact. Or just insulate it good

it should quiet down just by lengthening the exhaust. It will never really be super quiet, as a lot of the noise comes from the engines themselves. They're just noisy internally. If you do secure it to a rigid frame, maybe allow for it to easily be returned to a stock (or at least lower) location on the fly in case you ever have to remove your top. What is the main reason for extending it up?

I think it would be a good idea to route the exhaust to the rear, Roger had his 8x8 Argo set up like that and routed the exhaust inside the body, well insulated with exhaust wrap.
Argos are notorious for putting exhaust in your face, and the problem can be fixed by sending the exhaust to the rear, and that will make it quiter in the driver's area. The pipe could also run outside the body to the rear, I would recommend a shroud as well as exhaust wrap to be doubley sure no one or thing gets burned.

my 87 8x8 came with homemade rops, with exhaust ext attached to it. its got a M18 kohler in it. I have ran it with and without the ext. and i couldnt see and back pressure issues. but of course this only a 18 hp older motor. the newer motor in yours might be more picky. having the exhaust go up above the driver/passage make it easier on the ears.

Tim from Adair Argo sent me a calendar last year with this picture on it. This looks like what you had in mind.

Never argue with an idiot, they will drag you down to their level, then beat you to death with stupidity!

I'm honestly not sure how I'm going to do it. What I had invisioned was the "muffler" on one of the rear leg either vertical or horizontal on the crossmember that connects the front and rear ROPS?????? I will post a pic within the next week whatever I decide to do.
