  • Value of used accessories

I have a 2005 Avenger for sale, and I've had a few inquiries on buying the tracks off it.
I also have someone interested in the machine without it's tracks or snowplow.
I'm a little unsure of what to say I'd sell it for without these.

In general, What are used accessories worth? And how likely will I be to sell them separately?

I don't know how much cash value is added in a sale due to accessories. I would say very little, but they do have value in the fact that they make a sale easier to close. I would think a used plow is worth at least $500 and tracks $750. This is not the high end of the value, but just a guess at what it would take them to move down the road relatively quickly. I do not see most tracks fetching a lot of money on the tertiary market, but most I have seen are the older style tracks too. My advise would be to sell the machine first and if they need to negotiate the price down, do so by removing options from the argo that have equivalent value. If someone asks to buy your tracks or plow or whatever. Be honest and say they go with the machine first, but get their name, contact info, and what they would be willing to pay incase you need to make up the difference of a cash offer by selling the stuff separately.
l like to buy stuff and no I don't do payments!

I would think they are worth atleast half if in good condition but condition is everything, new rubber tracks are over 3000, course it seems many people are wanting the Adairs. Check the old for sale forum and see what others have asked for an idea.

My new beer holder spilled some on the trails - in it's hair and down it's throat.
      Joe Camel never does that.

Advice is free, it's the application that costs.

My thought was that the accessories should lose approx. the same percentage of value as the machine. Well the major accessories anyway, little stuff falls more into the "Drew" catagory of being a selling point.
Wouldn't it make sense that if a machine is worth half of what it cost new, the tracks would be worth half price of new also??? Condition dependent of course.
I have never seen used tracks for sale that weren't the plastic type....and most seem to be well worn. But then again, I have never been in the market for them.

Half original price makes sense for most major options, but as Argo Jim stated most people are looming for adair tracks. I think your tracks would sell better in Canada, but you may have a but of trouble getting $1500 out of them here. I almost put their value at $750-$1250, but a states that $750 was on the low end instead. I know there were used rubber tracks on eBay a few weeks ago with a starting bid of $1500, and looked to have little to no interest at that price. Now spring will be here soon and a good snow track is going to be as easy to sell as a good sled this time of year. Put it in the shed and wait till September to list it.

Argo plows seem to be going for around $450-500 up here in Canada. I bought a barely used one a few months ago at that price and have seen a couple on Kijjii listed for $500.

LOL Actually snow tracks here are all but worthless (to me anyway). When I was a kid, I remember snow....Not much from the blizzard in '68, but the one in '78 I remember 3 feet of snow and shoveling the driveway. My dad bought a snowblower for the lawn tractor after that. He must have forseen that "the boy" wasn't going to be around too many more years.
Anyway....I'm far enough away from the big lake to very rarely see lake effect snow. The last time I remember lots of snow here was Dec. of 2000.

Talk to your dealer, he may have a commercial customer looking for tracks for an Avenger, I'm sure if he can sell a set he doesn't have to assemble he'd gladly help you, him and his customer. They are almost useless for a Conquest or Response due to tub height unless someone went with like an 16" or 18" turf tire and cut the track shorter. They might work on that Max2 of yours if you shortened them with 22's also.
