  • Electric troller motors and the Avenger

Hello. I have a 2005 Avenger, and would like to buy an electric troller outboard motor for it. Can anyone with experience suggest a brand, model, thrust, etc.
I'm only going to use it to cross a few creeks, but don't want to get tossed out into the ocean (The creeks where we cross are about twenty feet up from the ocean the where I live.)
    Thank you all very much.

    hi there,

I am running a 54lb watersnake on my Avenger and it working fairly well. The Argo has a lot of drag in the water, especially if the wheels aren't turning, so any stream or water movement will easily push you around, so my suggestion is to beef it up as much as you can. With the 54lb I get about double the speed I get with just swimming (standard rawhide tyres) when running flat out on the electric. Suppose if you swim the machine and use the electric it will help as well.

"Beef it up"... does this mean be sure to go 54 pounds of thrust or more? Makes sense to me. Thank you for the thrust info.

        Outboard motors

I have posted a very similar request concerning "outboards on Argos" I would love to hear more info about what works and what does not. I have watched the youtube videos about the twin electric and have seen several photos of Argos with gas powered outboards. I am still undecided about what will work for me. I have received good response from 6x6 world readers but would like to hear more.
The photo posted is from 6x6 world gallery. Can anyone identify this photo? I saved it but do not have any information about it.
        Thanks, Wilburjohn

I suppose the long shaft would be better (42 inch)? Will this need a special mount, or can I screw it on the back of the Avenger?

Not sure about the cost factor, but I always thought those outboards that run on the little propane bottles would be the bee's knees... No extra fuel tank needed.
